During the course of my studies at Georgetown I have been influenced by a variety of authors whose obvious enthusiasm to improve the composition classroom has been infectious. I have also been inspired by theorists of motherhood and through my work in courses such as the "Rhetorical Turn" and this project I have also been able to draw connections between theories of motherhood and composition. Critics and theorists of composition and motherhood want to empower populations (whether students or mothers) to express their identities through personal and public writing. Although this writing may take forms as different as academic papers or online advocacy this writing is an important articulation of identity. In this section of my site I include my thoughts and writing about theorists who have influenced my understanding of how composition and motherhood can shape subjectivity.
